Everyone on the Rescue Bond team has adopted a dog from a shelter. We will all tell you 2 things - it is easily the best addition we’ve made to our lives and it had its challenges at the start. Studies around why people return animals after adoption show that most returns happen in the first 60 days of adoption. Sadly, it is nearly always because adopters are not prepared for how dogs adjust to new homes and often misread temporary hurdles as permanent “bad behavior.”

This is why we made this program.

We want to build safety, support, and custom education for new adopters. Too often we celebrate the adoption and leave people on their own to figure out the “happily ever after.” That’s why Rescue Bond is offering 3 local New Yorkers the chance to adopt with robust support, training, and home integration plans.
